Oakland, CA - The Holy Names University Men's Basketball Program announced another signing this week, Lloyd Marshall has signed a letter of intent and will join the Hawks for the 2008-2009 season. "Lloyd will give us depth and versatility at the forward spot, his ability to score inside and out make him a tough matchup," said head coach Dennis Jones. "He is another guy who sets goals for himself and works extremely hard to achieve them."
The 6’7” Forward was born and raised in Melbourne Australia and will be making his second journey to Northern California in late August. Lloyd made a visit to HNU and the Bay area in April and signed his letter of intent during his stay. “It was a great opportunity for both parties,” said Coach Jones, “he definitely made a big impression with our coaching staff and the players… He stayed for about a week and when he left, it felt like we were missing part of our Family.”
Lloyd was selected for the under 20, Melbourne Tigers #1 team in 2007. That same year he was selected for and helped lead the under 20 Victorian State Team to the silver medal at the Australian National Championships. Prior to that, Lloyd guided Box Hill Senior Secondary College (High School) to the Victorian College Championship in 2007.
Lloyd is set to join a Holy Names Team that went 16 - 16 overall in 2007 - 2008, including 8 – 8 (5th place) in California Pacific Conference play. The Hawks had won back to back California Pacific Conference Tournaments titles earning automatic bids to the 2006 and 2007 NAIA II National Tournaments. The 2007 season marked just the second time in Men's Basketball history that the team won the regular season and conference tournament title in the same year.
