Oakland, CA - HNU Men's Basketball Coach Dennis Jones announced that Murrieta Valley High School Standout, Zac Sewitsky, has signed a letter of intent to attend Holy Names University in the fall. "Zac has worked hard to make himself a consistent scorer, but it is his physical strength and the pride he takes in his defense that really sets him apart," said Coach Jones. "He is a team guy; he can score, but would rather defend the opponent's best player!"
Sewitsky was instrumental in leading Murrieta Valley High School to its first Southwestern League title in 8 years. The 6'1" guard averaged 11 points, 3 assists and 3 steals per game in his senior season. He was a First Team All Southwestern League selection as well as being named to the 2008 All Valley and All Riverside County Teams. Zac was voted Team MVP by his peers after leading the team in steals (66) and finishing in the top 3 in assists (66), scoring (11) and three pointers made (36). His 567 points, 81 Three point makes and 99 steals aided the Nighthawks to a 45 - 15 record from 2006 - 2008.

Zac joins a Holy Names Team that went 16 - 16 overall in 2007 - 2008, including 8 - 8 (5th place) in California Pacific Conference play. The Hawks had won back to back California Pacific Conference Tournaments, earning automatic bids to the 2006 and 2007 NAIA II National Tournaments. The 2007 season marked just the second time in Men's Basketball history that the team won the regular season and conference tournament title in the same year.
