Holy Names University Women’s Basketball coach Steve Spencer announced the signing of Moanalua High’s Britni Ronolo to a National Letter of Intent. Ronolo signed her letter in front of family and friends in Honolulu last month. Ronolo joins her older sister Jamie on the Hawks’ 2008-2009 roster.
“We are more than excited about Britni joining our team,” said Spencer. “We are honored that the Ronolo family has enough trust and belief in us to send another daughter our way.”
In addition to being an All-OIA East 1st Team selection, Ronolo was named to both the Honolulu Advertiser All-State Honorable Mention team and the Honolulu Star Bulletin Fab 15 All State Team which selects the top 15 players in the state of Hawaii. The 5-9 post player led her team to the HSSAA Girls Basketball State Tournament each of the past two seasons. Ronolo averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds a game last season highlighted by a 31 point, 20 rebound performance against rival Kahuku High.
“Britni has one of those motors that coaches love,” commented Coach Spencer. “She is aggressive, energetic and tough. She will bring a lot to our program.”
Ronolo joins a program that went 19-13 last season including a 14-2 conference mark. The Hawks won the Cal Pac Regular Season Championship and the Cal Pac Tournament Championship earned the Hawks the conference’s automatic bid in to the NAIA National Tournament. The 2007-08 season saw Holy Names win their 8th Cal Pac Championship and make their 9th trip to the NAIA National Tournament in the last 11 years.
