After a week in the southern sunshine, and returning home with a 5 for 8 record against mostly mid-western schools, the Holy Names Hawks showed they could dominate the ball with the best of them, using the "mercy rule" with 8-0, 14-2 and 13-0 games, while battling very competitive teams like Tufts University who were the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) champions for 2008 and NFCA ranked #10 in 2009 pre-season.

The Hawks swing into heated conference play with games against Dominican University Penguins on Sunday, March 29th at Thrasher Park in San Leandro. Game times are 1 & 3pm. This will mark a 12-game (6 doubleheaders) "home" stand for HNU (with one DH scheduled at CAL) where they will be working to control and dictate the tempos and games with the resulting outcomes furthering their own advantage in the run for Nationals.
