Needing a second place finish to win the conference, the HNU men were off to Redding, CA to compete in possibly their final tournament of year. With a bid to nationals on the line, the hawks opened day one of the Cal Pac Championship with a two shot lead..
Earlier in the morning Hawk golfer Garrett True was trying to win the 82nd Alameda Commuters Golf Tournament. With an amazing list of past champions, True entered the final round with a one shot lead in the tournament, which had started the weekend before with a field of over 200 players. After 72 holes, Garrett finished in a tie with two other players, finally being out dueled on the second the playoff hole.
Following True’s 2nd place finish, the men’s golf team was looking to capture the conference championship. Monday’s nasty weather turned into a long day, which was well worth it when the hawks earned a national bid shooting a final round 304.
Nationals, see you in Silvis, May 19!
