San Rafael, CA – The Hawks, who were looking rebound after a tough fought preseason schedule, did so in their first conference game against tough rival Dominican University by a score of 4 to 0.
HNU's offensive force proved to be too strong for the penguins with Ricky Vargas caring the load with two goals and two assist, and Mustafa Celick, Milan Partenejivic both adding one goal each leading the Hawks to a 4-0 victory. The penguins fought hard, but not hard enough to get past the dynamic defense of Victor Augustsson, Chris Williams, and the rest of the Hawks powerhouse.
Dominican players Pedre Guevera and Tim Pinella attempted to cut into the 4-0 lead, but proved to be unsuccessful. Mads Aastrup ended the game with 6 saves and lead the way to a solid shutout.
The Hawks are currently 3-4 overall and 1-0 in conference play. Now that the Hawks have picked up some momentum they will use this to face Bethany University in a home game this Saturday at 1:00. It seems like this will be an exciting season for new Head Coach Tim Hart and the Hawks.
