The HNU Hawks men's soccer team began their conference with the best possible start. Playing against Menlo College, a local rival, the Hawks found themselves 1-0 up in the space of the first 2 minutes of the game. A long through ball by winger Doug Alves sent Jonathan Tinjaca through 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper, who struck the ball firmly down the middle of the goal.
The Hawks dominated the match and had several other chances throughout the game. However, it took the Hawks until the 88th minute to add to the score as jonathan Tinjaca returned the favor to Alves with a long ball into Alves chest. Doug still had a lot of work to do with the ball, but beat his defender and slotted the ball home to finish the game up 2-0.
